Kim Richey/David Berkeley double bill - 31 May @ Hugh Ripley Hall, Ripon
Hailing from Brooklyn, New York, singer-songwriter David Berkeley has supported musical stars such as Don Maclean, Rufus Wainwright, Billy Bragg, Dido and Ray Lamontagne and is set for stardom of his own.
Influenced hugely by the likes of Nick Drake, Paul Simon and Elliott Smith, he is flying over from New York to play three UK dates on consecutive nights. "He sings in a lustrous, melancholy voice with shades of Tim Buckley and Nick Drake." New York Times.
Much acclaimed Nashville-based singer-songwriter Kim Richey is visiting the UK to showcase her brilliant new album 'Chinese Boxes', produced by Giles Martin (son of Beatles producer George).
Richey has been plying her brand of insightful song-craft since arriving in Nashville in the early ‘90s. A tunesmith with a wide stylistic range, she’s written songs for Mary Chapin Carpenter, Trisha Yearwood and UK pop sensation James Morrison, among others.
She has also made four brilliant solo albums and had her music featured in films and television shows such as For The Love Of The Game, Angel, Alias and Grey’s Anatomy. You can check out Kim playing live on Bob Harris's show on BBC Radio 2 on Saturday, 24 May.
